After not listening to God, Adam and Eve found themselves in a terrible predicament. Their first reaction was to cover up rather than "fess up." Lies can never hide the root problem of sin, but even today, we still try this approach (Genesis 3:7). Instead of acknowledging and confessing sin, we often attempt a quick surface fix of the situation.

As sons and daughters of our heavenly Father you and I have received unimaginable mercy. He has forgiven all of our sins. In the words of St. Paul, God has "obliterated" our sins by His death on the cross. And as He has done for us, so must we, if we are truly to be His sons and daughters, do for one another. The world in which we live, the culture in which we live, is increasingly violent and controversial. What is desperately needed in our families, our culture, and our world is mercy and love. God our Father is love, and He is rich in mercy. Let us show ourselves to be His children by not merely saying these things with our mouths, but by bringing His love and mercy to each other. May the Body and Blood of Christ help us to experience our Father's great love for us by name, and to share it with one another.

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Philippians 4:6

God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. Let us ask God to give us His love for everyone around us.

Archangel is a term meaning an angel of high rank. Archangels are found in a number of religious traditions, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Zoroastrianism and Wicca. Michael is the only archangel named in the Bible as recognized by both Jews and Christians. Gabriel, named in the Holy Bible's New Testament book, Luke, is considered to be an archangel, as are Raphael (mentioned in the Apocrypha Book of Tobit) and Uriel (mentioned in the non-canonical Book of Enoch). The Book of Tobit is included in the Catholic Canon of the Bible, as well as in the Orthodox Septuagint; however, this book is considered apocryphal by many Protestants. The archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are venerated in the Roman Catholic Church with a feast on 29 September. The named Archangels in Islam are Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and Azrael. Other traditions have identified a group of Seven Archangels, the names of which vary, depending on the source. The fallen archangel Lucifer (also known as Satan) was an archangel until he rebelled against God who then had Michael cast him down to Hell from heaven.
